It started because nobody would answer the phone.
A neighbour needed a filtered phone for his son. He bought one from a shop two neighbourhoods over, brought it home, and nothing worked properly. The shop did not answer. I spent an evening fixing it. Then someone else called. That was eight years ago.
What we actually do all day
Selling phones is maybe a third of it. The rest is configuration, porting numbers, arguing with carriers on your behalf, pushing filter profiles, moving contacts off dead handsets, and answering the same six questions patiently because they are good questions.
We are not a chain and we are not trying to become one. There is a shop on Coney Island Avenue, a workbench with about forty phones on it at any given moment, and a phone number that reaches an actual person.
If you want the cheapest possible handset with no help attached, there are places online for that, and we will tell you so. What we sell is the phone plus the part after the phone.
We tell you the cheaper answer
If filtering the phone you already own is the right move, we say so — even though selling you a new handset pays better.
No pressure on plans
Our service plan exists for people who want one bill. Keeping your carrier is completely fine and costs us nothing.
Your data stays here
Rosters, device lists and student names do not leave the shop. We do not sell contact information to anyone, ever.
We do not oversell hardware
A twelve-year-old does not need a filtered iPhone. Most of what we recommend costs under $200.
Eight years, roughly
One phone, one evening
Fixed a neighbour's son's phone after the shop that sold it stopped answering. Word got around fast.
Nights and Sundays
Working out of a spare room with a box of SIMs and a spreadsheet. About sixty phones that first year.
The shop opened
Coney Island Avenue. A counter, a workbench, and the phone number we still use today.
Mosdos programmes
The first yeshiva deployment — forty phones before Elul. Now over forty organisations.
Still one number
More phones, more filters, same setup: you call, we answer, it gets fixed.
Where we stand on filtering
We are not the posek. Your Rov decides what your family or your mosad needs; our job is to make that decision actually work on the hardware, and to be honest about what each filter can and cannot do.
We install what your Rov ruled on
TAG, Livigent, Gentech or ours. If a specific filter is required, that is the one that goes on — no substitutions.
We tell you the limits
No filter is perfect and anyone who says otherwise is selling. We explain the gaps up front so nobody is surprised later.
Restrictions do not depend on trust
Supervised profiles on iPhone, device-owner enrolment on Android. Not settings a determined teenager can switch off.
Changes go through the adult
The parent or the mosad is on the account. We take change requests from them, not from whoever is holding the phone.
Come in, or just call.
